The book carries a photo section. This is the unabridged version of it — the photographs, letters, records and official forms the investigation turned on, arranged the way the book is, by act and by chapter.

Some of it is beautiful. Most of it is paperwork. The paperwork is the part that matters: it is where the decisions were made, in language flat enough to hide what it was doing.
